Shen Qing, a low-level gangster, is forced to substitute for a warlord's young marshal. He thought he was a manipulable pawn, but uncovers that the real young marshal's death was a conspiracy by his uncle. Pretending to comply, he uses his 'young marshal' identity to chaos the enemy camp while secretly investigating the truth and collecting evidence—from a manipulated 'fake' to a chess player controlling the whole game. A deceptive game blurring fake and real eventually upends the warlord situation. He avenges the real young marshal and turns the 'fake' title into a genuine 'young marshal' position!
