Yang Lijuan, an "invisible planner" at an advertising agency, is laid off by her toxic boss for poor performance. Crushed by mortgage payments and her mother’s hospital bills, she collapses—but triggers a "Career Counterattack System" on the subway: completing tasks like "reviving a dead project" or "exposing a scheming colleague" grants her skill points. Forced to take on challenges, she reunites with Jiang Shan, her ex-partner who left years ago due to her mistake (now a client project leader). From confrontation to collaboration, they win a key project. Lijuan realizes the system’s tasks are the "unfinished business" she once avoided—and her real comeback comes from regaining her courage. Just as she thinks she’s won, the system prompts: "Final Task: Stay in the system or return to reality." She wakes up in a hospital, realizing the "system" was her subconscious redemption after collapsing on layoff day—and Jiang Shan has been waiting by her bed all along.
