Su Wan, a neglected concubine’s daughter of the Prime Minister’s mansion, is tricked by her “dear brother” Su Mingxuan into marrying Chu Xiuyuan, the Jin Prince rumored to “die within half a year”—everyone expects her to be a scapegoat. But on their wedding night, Chu Xiuyuan holds her hand and smiles: “I’ve been waiting for you, my princess.” He’d long seen through the scheme and set a trap. Su Wan goes from a trembling “pawn” to someone melted by Chu Xiuyuan’s tenderness—but when Su Mingxuan’s plan fails, he allies with Northern Yan to rebel and ruin her reputation. When Su Wan stands in the imperial palace holding the edict, Chu Xiuyuan hands her the tiger tally: “I’ll get back the ‘fairness’ you want.” From an “abandoned child” of mistaken favor to a “co-ruler” standing side by side with the emperor, she finally understands: those who plotted against her were wrong not about “favor,” but about failing to see—her life has always belonged to the man who’d give her the entire kingdom.
