Su Wanwan, daughter of the Minister of Revenue, lies about having a private engagement with Gu Zhaozhi, the Emperor's tutor, to escape an arranged marriage. She plans to apologize later, but Gu unexpectedly plays along—sending her favorite jujube cake at night, shielding her from spicy wine at palace banquets, and even using a "token of love" to protect her when she's framed for colluding with enemies. Just as Su falls for this "fake sweetness," she stumbles upon a secret letter in Gu's study: "Once she's in the game, we can take down the Prime Minister." Is this all a scheme? Or has the tutor long hidden his true feelings? Beneath the sweet romance lies a game of power, or is it a mutual "long-planned" love?
