Shen Zhixia, daughter of a general, was framed by the empress for "adultery and having a child" and was confined to the cold palace for three years, where she raised her son Fubao, who was born with "锦鲤 luck" (锦鲤: a symbol of good fortune in Chinese culture). One day, Fubao accidentally broke into the imperial garden and saved the drowning young crown prince, which unexpectedly led the emperor to reunite with the mother and son—turns out the emperor never believed Shen Zhixia's "crime" and had been secretly investigating the truth. Fubao used his cuteness to resolve the emperor's misunderstanding of Shen Zhixia and helped his mother expose the empress's treasonous plot; the emperor also regained his former deep affection for Shen Zhixia during their interactions. In the end, Shen Zhixia逆袭 (counterattacked) from an abandoned concubine in the cold palace to become empress, Fubao became the "little lucky star" favored by the entire palace, and the family of three lived happily ever after.
