Professor Yu, a rigid and precise philosophy teacher, is forced to marry Lin Xiaoman, a newly graduated free-spirited painter, due to his grandma's last wish. One is a "life formula machine" who measures coffee sugar to the gram, the other a "chaos maker" who treats paint tubes like snacks and buries herself in the studio till midnight. Their cohabitation starts in chaos—Yu's books get stained with paint, Xiaoman's art supplies are tucked into the storage. But when Yu squats to pick up Xiaoman's scattered brushes, and Xiaoman stays up to paint a "moon that breaks the formula" for Yu, they realize love isn't about changing each other, but growing into more vivid selves together. In the end, Yu lets go of his "perfect life" obsession, Xiaoman holds her first exhibition with his support, and they go from contractual spouses to soul-resonant lovers.
