Office worker Lin Xiaoman stayed up late reading a cool novel, only to wake up as the cannon fodder supporting character who’s doomed to be ruined by the villain male lead Mo Jingshen. In the original plot, she’s supposed to throw herself at Mo Jingshen and end up in a mental hospital—but the laid-back Lin Xiaoman rebels: she refuses to be a doormat, steals the original female lead’s “heroic rescue moment,” and even mocks Mo Jingshen to his face for his “clichéd tricks worse than office PPTs.” To her shock, Mo Jingshen—who should hate her—suddenly shifts gears: he fends off her suitors and leans in to ask, “Did you have a crush on me all along?” When a laid-back worker meets an out-of-control villain, the fatal plot twists into a “villain chasing his wife” story.
