Su Wanqing disguised herself as a man to take the Great Liang female official exam—her only shot at clearing her wrongfully executed father's name. But her paper was sabotaged, and she failed. When all hope seemed lost, a mysterious figure recommended her as steward of the Shang Palace Bureau—a role controlling half the court's supplies, yet a 'powder keg' surrounded by scheming forces. On day one, she stumbles onto an account fraud case leading straight to Xiao Jingheng, the cold, unapproachable Regent. She braces for dismissal, but Xiao Jingheng smirks: 'Steward Su, if you're here to audit me, shouldn't we first settle *our* old debt?' Turns out, Xiao Jingheng is the 'masked stranger' who saved her years ago—and the one who uncovered her sabotaged exam. As Su Wanqing fights to reform the bureau and fend off the empress's relatives trying to corrupt her, she finds herself tangled in Xiao Jingheng's sweetly ruthless charm. Her 'luck'? It was never chance. It was a ten-year plan—his plan—to bring her to his side.
