In a post-apocalyptic future with scarce resources, humanity survives on the "Dawnbreaker" doomsday chariot. Rebellious mech pilot Lin Chen saves genius engineer Su Qing chased by capital forces. While on the run, they discover the doomsday is a conspiracy by a capitalist group to plunder resources—Su Qing's research can restart the oasis. To protect Su Qing and humanity's hope, Lin Chen leads comrades in Dawnbreaker to fight against the capital's headquarters. They fall in love unexpectedly, and even find a capital mole among the comrades. Finally, they crush the conspiracy and usher in the steel dawn.
