Su Wan has been learning tea-making from her lazy master Rong Yan at Qingzhu Teahouse for three years, thinking life would stay plain forever—until the Liu family from the capital shows up. She’s their long-lost legitimate daughter, and they’re here to drag her back to marry a sickly man for luck. Rong Yan just sits on a bamboo chair cracking sunflower seeds, saying, “Solve your own problems.” But that night, the Liu’s horse caravan is ambushed: the wedding dress is stuffed with a hissing cat, and even the Liu master’s court beads turn into tea stalks. Su Wan thinks it’s a coincidence—until she sees Rong Yan in silver armor at midnight, his sword reeking of peonies from the prince’s mansion. Turns out her lazy master is the retired General of the Nation, hiding in the teahouse just to wait for her to grow up, to help her turn the capital upside down, and to steep his heart into her teacup.
