Su Qingyue's sister married into the Marshal's Mansion in her place to avoid a forced marriage, only to die mysteriously. Convinced Marshal Gu Heting was the killer, Qingyue faked her death and pretended to be her “resurrected” sister to infiltrate the mansion. She played a “traitorous” madam: breaking his jade flute, putting spiders in his documents, even humiliating him at banquets—hoping to provoke him into revealing his murderous side. But Gu surprised her: he collected the broken flute pieces, saying he’d carve a new one; stayed up all night tending her fever; took a knife for her during an assassination. Qingyue wavered: could this gentle man be a killer? When she learned her sister’s death was plotted by Gu’s power-hungry stepmother, she found Gu had long known her secret and helped gather evidence. By then, she’d fallen for him. Staring at the man who protected her, she wondered: was she here to revenge… or to love?
