At the end of the Northern Liang Dynasty, Shen Wantang, daughter of a disgraced general, becomes a "snow-sweeping maid" in the Prime Minister's mansion. On Winter Solstice night, she saves Gu Zhao, a "sickly young master" being chased. They make a "snowy night promise" but hide their identities: Gu Zhao is the crown prince investigating a case incognito, while Shen Wantang holds her father's military tally and is hunted by the Prime Minister. When Gu Zhao marries her as the crown prince, the Prime Minister thinks they can control her—yet the former "snow-sweeping maid" has already collected evidence of the Prime Minister's treason with Gu Zhao's support. Gu Zhao also discovers that the girl who warmed his wine is the "owner of the military tally" who can help him stabilize the country. From hiding to standing side by side, on the day the Prime Minister falls, Gu Zhao holds her under the plum tree in the imperial garden and says: "I've waited for this snow for three years—not for the country, but for you."
