In a remote village in Northeast China, fiery village woman Xiaoman is pushed out by the villagers, scraping by in her shabby yard. She accidentally breaks a fish tank and releases an ancient god trapped for a millennium. Not knowing his identity, she treats him like a struggling brother, feeding him with authentic Northeast specialties like pork cutlets and sticky rice cakes. The initially cold god is moved by her sincerity and grit, helping her reclaim usurped land to become a respected local.
