40-year-old Lin Jianguo, a middle-aged professional, is laid off from his company. Burdened by family pressures with elderly parents and young kids, and facing his wife’s demand for divorce, he recalls his youth lathe-making skills and decides to launch a small workshop with all his might. He struggles with funding shortages, technical bottlenecks and malicious suppression from competitors, until he meets designer Su Xiao, also laid off. The two, initially clashing over work concepts, team up to tackle problems. A twist unfolds: an old client Lin helped years ago is the executive of a machine tool giant, offering a million-yuan order. Eventually, his workshop expands into a chain enterprise, and Lin gains sweet love with Su Xiao, achieving a complete turnaround in both career and life.
