Modern workplace tough woman Shen Tang travels back to a 1983 Jiangnan water town, becoming an "unlucky girl" rejected by her in-laws—her mother wants to sell her to an old bachelor in the mountains as a substitute wife, and the whole village avoids her. But Jiang Ye, her childhood sweetheart who used to fight with her, suddenly returns in a military uniform: he not only spends money to solve her troubles but also waits at her courtyard gate every day with osmanthus cake, blushing and saying "I want to marry you". Shen Tang thinks it's a prank from the "little tyrant", until she finds a photo at the bottom of Jiang Ye's box—it's her modern self, with the back writing "2023, wait for me". So he's the "insider" of time travel? When power ambitions collide with love, behind this "coquettish pursuit" lies a two-way wait across thirty years between them.
