The Drowned Zhuangyuan: A Crippled Man's Vengeance

share time: 2026-03-08 00:32:57

During the Jingtai era, Lin Zhao earned the top scholar (Zhuangyuan) title, only to be betrayed by his closest friend Gu Yuanzhou on the eve of his official appointment—poisoned mute, blinded, his hand tendons severed, and tossed into West Lake to die. Gu Yuanzhou stole his identity, masquerading as the "new Zhuangyuan" and rising swiftly in the government. Lin Zhao survived by sheer will, crawling back home only to find his pregnant wife Su Wan had been seized by Gu Yuanzhou, with their unborn child missing. On the brink of despair, he found an abandoned baby in a broken temple, wrapped in a red cloth embroidered with the love token he’d given Su Wan—could this child be his? Clutching the cloth, Lin Zhao carved "revenge" into the ground with his crippled fingers: blind, mute, and handless, he’d drag his broken body to the capital to reclaim his rightful title and make Gu Yuanzhou pay for every drop of blood owed!
