Modern office worker Lin Xiaoman transmigrates into Wang Afu, a destitute bachelor in a remote village of the Great Jing Dynasty. He is deep in debt to the village bully and doomed to die single, until the imperial court launches the "Harmonious Farming Marriage Policy" distributing eligible brides to single farmers. His bride turns out to be Shen Qingyuan, a former censor's daughter who ran away from her arranged marriage with her sick younger brother. The pair starts off hating each other but then work together to reclaim the land, get caught up in court intrigues by accident, with a chaotic yet warm daily life.
