Lin Xiaoman, an intern reporter, moves into the old building known as "The Haunted Residence"—where people say you'll be "kept" if you live there—to dig up urban legend material. But strange things start happening right away: an old lady boiling soup at midnight with a child's silver lock floating in it, a neighbor girl who borrows things leaving bloodstains on cups, and a man next door wearing a hat who always leaves wilted chrysanthemums at her door. Worse still, every morning she wakes up with a new scar identical to the previous missing tenant's. When she tracks down the real owner of "The Haunted Residence" through the tenant registry, she finds that the owner's photo looks exactly like her mother who has been missing for ten years...
