Disheartened architect Lin Zhou, burdened with huge debts after losing a bid, flees to an unfamiliar seaside town late at night and takes refuge in a nearly abandoned old bookstore "Shore Side". Uncle Chen, the retired teacher running the store, always hands him a cup of hot cocoa when he stares at the sea. A nautical logbook with yellowed old photos leads Lin Zhou to uncover a dusty secret: his mother waited for loved ones in this town when he was young—turns out "Homeward Shore" is the care his mother hid in old things. Encouraged by Uncle Chen's tenderness, Lin Zhou regains his design original intention, finally wins a harbor project full of humanistic warmth, and finds his own shore of return.
