Li Manshu, an auctioneer, accidentally travels back to 1936 Paris during an antique auction, meeting Shen Zhongheng—a cultural relic guardian who was supposed to have died in history, the "lone hero" she’d read about countless times. Now, Shen is battling Japanese spies to protect lost Chinese treasures. Using her modern auction skills, Li helps him expose fakes and retrieve national relics, and their love grows amid the war’s shadow. But when the last relic is sent home, a time rift pulls Li back to the present. Holding Shen’s old pocket watch, she believes in "the promised return"—the man who fought for his country will wait for her in some timeline.
