Shen Zhixia, an illegitimate daughter of the Prime Minister's mansion, was framed by her stepsister, disfigured, and wrongfully drowned in her previous life. She is reborn to the rainy night before her coming-of-age banquet. This time, she refuses to be a pushover—first exposing her stepsister's scheme to replace her birthday gift, then seizing evidence of the steward's embezzlement, and reclaiming control of the household step by step. When searching for her jade hairpin hidden in her past life at midnight, she unexpectedly encounters a snow crane trapped on a cold plum branch—none other than Rong Yan, the crane demon she fed millet to in her previous life. Now in human form, Rong Yan, with unspoken feelings from the past, presses a jade pendant carved with 'Xia' into her hand: 'In the past life, you waited for me; this life, I'll protect you.' As they navigate the conspiracies of the Prime Minister's mansion and the royal family, they write a sweet love legend of 'waiting for the crane's song on the cold branch' under the plum tree—they will avenge the past and make up for all the regrets of their previous life.
