In a quiet southern Chinese riverside town, young scavenger Ashi makes a living by retrieving floating debris from the stone-paved river bend. One day, he hauls up an old rope tangled with a silver bracelet and a faded handkerchief embroidered with lotus flowers. Following the rope's trail, Ashi uncovers a hidden love story from half a century ago: a local boat girl Ailian and a traveling peddler who pledged their love but were separated by a sudden flood, their memories buried with sunken objects. As Ashi digs into the forgotten past, he also faces a stalemate with his childhood sweetheart Meimei, who thinks he's aimless clinging to the riverbank. Every rope hauled from the bend carries a forgotten heartbeat and unspoken regret of fleeting life.
