Su Wan, an antique restorer, takes an order from Gu Shiyan, an aloof collector—to restore a faded red rose oil painting. During the process, she finds a love letter from her missing mother hidden under the paint. Gu reveals the painting was his late grandmother’s, who left a message: "When the red roses bloom, regrets awaken." To their shock, the restored roses briefly bloom at midnight. Following clues, they uncover the past: Su’s mother gave up love for art decades ago, leaving Gu’s grandmother’s brother regretful for life. As Su and Gu go from clashing to healing each other, the final petal’s restoration reveals they’re meant to "complete" the previous generation’s unfinished regret.
