Bai Su, a fox spirit maiden, disguises herself as a mute girl and works at an old bookstore to steal the "purest human tear" needed to free her sealed clan. Her boss, Gu Zhao, is a gentle yet distant bookseller who often stares at a blank book—the only memento of his late lover. As they grow closer, Bai Su falls for his thoughtfulness: he leaves warm congee for her, shields her from rain, and even learns sign language to say "Don’t be afraid." Just as she’s ready to give up her mission for love, she discovers Gu Zhao has known her true identity all along—his late lover was Bai Su’s missing sister, who saved him years ago. And that "purest tear"? It was never meant to be stolen—it’s something he’s always willing to give, wholeheartedly…
