Su Wan, an archaeology intern, finds a fox-patterned ancient jade—the Fox Jade—among her grandma's relics. One night, the jade emits a mournful cry, and the next day it vanishes. A mysterious man named Bai Mo appears, claiming, "The Fox Jade is my tail." Forced to team up with him to retrieve the jade, Su Wan uncovers a link to her grandma's missing archaeology case—and discovers Bai Mo is a fox demon trapped in the jade for a thousand years. As they close in on the jade's secret of "reviving the dead," shadowy jade thieves start hunting them.
