Up-and-coming painter Lu Chuan shot to stardom with his “Unfinished Muse” series, where every girl in his paintings has no face—that’s his girlfriend Xiaotang, who went missing three years ago. Until Lin Xiaoman, an intern, arrives at the gallery. She looks identical to the girl in the paintings but has no memory of Lu Chuan, even saying, “I dreamed of feeding stray cats with you.” Lu Chuan follows Xiaoman and finds her diary full of their past, but Xiaoman insists those are “dreams repeated for three years.” Meanwhile, a video of Xiaotang’s “disappearance” car accident three years ago suddenly arrives at his studio—and the driver in the footage bears a striking resemblance to Xiaoman… What he can’t paint is never a face, but the truth hidden in his memory and the “reunion” he dares not face.
