Down-and-out painter Lu Ziyu accidentally obtains a divine brush that brings his drawings to life. When he paints immortality herbs for his dying sister, he attracts the attention of Bai Li, a millennium-old painting demon. The brush turns out to be a sacred artifact suppressing the demon realm, with each stroke consuming the painter's life force. As Bai Li discovers Lu is the reincarnation of the Taoist who sealed her centuries ago, an epic tale of love, vengeance and redemption unfolds between mortal and demon.
