A 21st-century youth accidentally time-travels to 1978 and becomes Lu Ye, a poverty-stricken guy fleeing famine with only 35 cents and two corn buns. He must avoid creditors and endure cold and hunger while seeking chances in the desolate Northwest China. With modern thinking, he seizes era opportunities, starts by reselling local specialties, and advances amid others' doubts. He not only earns his first pot of gold to rise from poverty but also meets unexpected true love, completely changing his desperate fate in 1978 and writing a hot-blooded rags-to-riches legend of a small figure in the era's tide.
