Gu Zhao, the Seventh Prince of Northern Yan, is the most insignificant good-for-nothing in the palace. He spends every day hiding in his mansion reading storybooks, so even the emperor can't remember his name. Until one morning, he finds a little baby at the palace gate who clings to his leg and keeps calling him "Daddy". Since then, Gu Zhao's life has been like being possessed by a lucky koi—winning the top prize at the temple fair, accidentally solving the emperor's border crisis, and even his brothers who once wanted to kill him now curry favor with him. But when he starts treating the baby as his own son, he discovers that the child is the queen's long-lost嫡 son, and a hidden force is targeting the baby's bloodline to overthrow the imperial power. Forced to transform from a "good-for-nothing" to a "baby protector", Gu Zhao guards the little one while getting involved in the battle for the throne. Unexpectedly, he, who never wanted to be emperor, becomes the most qualified person to ascend the throne...
