Lin Shoutang, an old carpenter, has run a century-old woodworking shop all his life but once offended antique dealer Zhou Tiancai by refusing to make fake antiques. Now, Zhou is retaliating by trying to demolish the shop in the name of urban renewal. His grandson Lin Xiaoman, determined to save the shop, stumbles upon his grandfather's mortise-and-tenon diary hidden in the roof beam—which records a fake antique murder case involving Zhou's father. As real vs. fake craftsmanship and old vs. new grudges intertwine, the survival of the Lin family's shop hinges on a buried craftsman's conscience. When the truth emerges, everyone must confront their own "craftsman's grudge."
