Su Wan, a cultural relic restorer, finds a ginkgo leaf—her 17-year-old promise with Lin Chuan to "see Forbidden City's autumn when ginkgo turns yellow"—in an old Republic of China painting's夹层. But Lin Chuan vanished suddenly back then. When they reunite, he’s the painting’s client, hiding a secret: He left to save Su Wan’s dying mother and now has terminal lung cancer, hoping to fulfill their promise with his last breath. As the painting is restored, the ginkgo leaf falls. In Su Wan’s hand is Lin Chuan’s 10-year-hidden love letter, ending with: "My youth was always only you."
