In 1927, the 16th year of the Republic of China, retired sniper Shen Yan lives in seclusion in a small town near Shanghai. Ten years prior, he accidentally killed his sworn brother during a bandit suppression mission, and hid his battle-scarred rifle away ever since. Now the same gang has returned, abducting his brother’s only daughter. On the full moon night, as the old moon shines over the courtyard’s ancient locust tree, Shen Yan runs his fingers over the dust-covered gun, letting go of his decade-long guilt at last. He picks up the weapon once more, embarking on a journey of revenge and redemption to settle old scores and save his brother’s child.
