Gu Jingchuan, heir to a business empire, appears to be a cynical "playboy" but is actually a wife-obsessed devotee of his wife Su Wanning—he brings her favorite taro buns every day, secretly resolves medical disputes for her, and even squats outside the hospital playing games to "keep her company" during her night shifts. As a highly intelligent neurosurgeon, Su Wanning is used to wrapping herself in rationality and keeps her distance from Gu Jingchuan's passionate advances. Until she's cyberbullied over a surgical mistake, Gu Jingchuan swallows his pride to clear her name and pulls out a proposal diary he's hidden for three years—turns out he fell for her the moment she saved him. Two "twisted little bitter melons," one afraid of scaring her away with too much enthusiasm, the other afraid of losing herself if she takes it too seriously, finally drop their guards after marriage and learn to love each other straightforwardly.
