Qingdai, the fairy guarding the Lijiang River for a thousand years, is tired of rigid, lonely heavenly rules. She sneaks to the mortal world during the Queen Mother's Peach Banquet, living as fisherwoman Aqing in a riverside fishing village. She tastes sweet rice wine, mends nets for old fishermen, then saves a down-and-out painter chased by killers. The mortal warmth touches her buried affection but also draws heavenly soldiers. Torn between protecting her fairy status and the mortal bond, Aqing faces a dilemma by the fishing lamp on the Lijiang River.
