In the ideal 1990s, set in a state-owned enterprise compound, Lin Weidong, a machinery factory technician, falls for Bai Xiaowen, a dancer in the city's troupe. In that era that values ideals and responsibility, Lin is looked down upon by Bai's father due to his ordinary background. They secretly fall in love despite family opposition.
