Su Wan, an antique restorer, takes on the repair of a Song Dynasty porcelain vase called "Fallen Flower with Tears". Hidden in the vase's cracks are secretly carved characters "Wan"—the handwriting of Lin Shen, her first love who disappeared suddenly three years ago. She once thought she was betrayed, but now Lin Shen returns as a cultural relic reporter to investigate the legend of a Republican-era couple who "nourished the porcelain with tears" behind the vase. When Su Wan restores the flower pattern at the vase's base using special techniques, she discovers Lin Shen was framed three years ago for protecting the vase from smuggling. The tears of the Republican couple and the unspoken regrets between them now overlap into the same "unfinished" story within the porcelain's patterns.
