Mu Jin, an old-item restorer, guards her shop "Jin Nian" at the alley entrance, spending years with old objects—until Lin Yin, a pianist, arrives with a broken old piano. It’s the "time piano" they played together at 17. Lin Yin’s sudden disappearance back then left Mu Jin’s youth stuck in an unspoken confession. During restoration, a faded love letter, old sheet music with a pressed gardenia, and even a tape hidden in the keys reveal Lin Yin’s helplessness: his mother’s serious illness forced him abroad, his confession letter got lost, and he’s saved dried gardenias every year just to come back for her. When Lin Yin plays the piece they co-wrote again, Mu Jin, looking at the blooming gardenias in the yard, finally dares to ask the question she’s hidden for ten years: "Did you ever regret it?"
