Lin Wan, a watchmaker, has been running her grandfather's old shop for five years. Every dusk, she faithfully adjusts an old pocket watch left by her missing boyfriend Gu Shen—it stops at 18:57, the time they promised to reunite. One evening, Gu Zhao, wearing an identical pocket watch, arrives. He claims to be Gu Shen's younger brother but carries Gu Shen's notebook, which hides an unsent engagement ring design. To Lin Wan's shock, Gu Zhao has the same scar on his wrist as Gu Shen... When the clock strikes 18:57 again, the stopped pocket watch suddenly starts ticking. An old photo of Lin Wan and Gu Shen falls from Gu Zhao's pocket, with a note on the back: "Wait for me, when dusk fades."
