Lin Wan, a theater actress renowned for her "light-inspired performances," discovers a mysterious guardian after a stage accident—Chen Mo, the transfer student she once wronged for "plagiarism" in high school, who took the blame and was expelled. Now a reclusive lighting designer, Chen has hidden in the backlight as her "shadow" for a decade, but is facing blindness from an old injury. Fearing he’ll be a burden, he vanishes. Lin digs into their past, finds him at the old lighthouse where they watched sunrises, and holds up the glass candy wrapper he gave her (which refracts rainbows): "You were my backlight; now let me be your light."
