Genius astronomer Lu Xingyao returns to his hometown to track a rare comet and moves into the mountain B&B run by Lin Xiaoman, a socially anxious illustrator. Lin’s paintings always have an unfinished stroke of the galaxy, but Lu’s telescope has long held the memory of the little girl who secretly drew him at the planetarium five years ago—that’s her. When Lu tries to get closer, Lin retreats due to the inferiority from being mocked for “not drawing stars well” in the past. Until a meteor shower night, he uses star trails to recreate the incomplete pattern in her painting and whispers: “What you’re drawing isn’t the galaxy—it’s the words I’ve hidden for five years, wanting to say to you.”
