Uncle Zhou, the village's top chef for 20 years, has cooked every wedding and funeral banquet—but he's never once enjoyed a full feast. He's always stuck tending the stove, eating cold leftovers after guests leave. Desperate to taste a hot banquet, he lies about his 60th birthday to trick the village into throwing him one. But as soon as the news spreads, Neighbor Aunt Zhang offers her braised pork, the village chief wants to use his kitchen for a group meal, and his city-working son books a train ticket home. Zhou panics—he hasn't prepared anything. Worse, his grandson finds his "wish list" in the wood shed, full of dishes he's envied for 20 years, like "braised pork with preserved vegetables: 30% fat, 70% lean." Now the whole village knows his "banquet obsession."
