Truck driver Lao Li single-handedly raises his daughter Xiaoyu with meager income but never complains. When Xiaoyu is diagnosed with a condition requiring expensive surgery, Lao Li works day and night delivering food to raise funds. Just as the medical fees are nearly covered, Lao Li gets into a car accident due to exhaustion. At his hospital bed, Xiaoyu discovers his diary entry: 'Even the most ordinary father wants to pick stars for his child.' Their story eventually moves kind-hearted strangers to offer help.
