Su Xiaotang has been a "perfect daughter"驯养 (tamed) by her mother for 25 years: study education, marry into a wealthy family, even her secret illustrations are locked in a box. Until Lin Shen, a free-spirited photographer, moves in across the hall—his photo of a butterfly breaking out of its cocoon makes her ask herself for the first time: "Who do I really want to be?" When her mother forces her to sign a wealthy marriage contract, she tears it up, grabs her painting supplies, and flees to the mountains. But just as she finishes her first painting of freedom, her mother's critical illness notice arrives. Between her mother crying by the hospital bed, "I did it all for you," and the unfinished butterfly wings on her canvas, can she tear a crack in the chains of family love to see the light?
