In a past life, Yuanjue, a young monk, saved Zhaoning, a princess of a fallen kingdom who hid a Buddha’s relic. They fell in love under the Bodhi tree, but Zhaoning sacrificed herself to protect the relic from pursuers. Yuanjue vowed to guard the tree for a thousand years to atone for his “worldly desire.” In this life, Lin Zhaoning, an archaeology student, reunites with Gu Yuanjue, a relic restorer, while repairing murals at the Bodhi tree site. The emerging past-life fragments in the murals, the gilded relic box dug under the tree, and the secretly watching relic thieves force them to face a thousand-year-old debt of longing—should they uncover the truth of Zhaoning’s death in the past, or seize the chance to love again in the present?
