Urban designer Su Wan is tasked with renovating a Jiangnan ancient town and returns to her hometown after a decade, only to run into Lin Shen—her childhood playmate she fell out with over "guarding the old pagoda tree"—who's now a "stubborn forest guardian" refusing to leave the town. She wants to demolish the old to build a cultural tourism zone, while he fights to preserve the orioles' songs and green scenery for nostalgia. From clashing head-on to rediscovering the "guardian vow" they buried under the pagoda tree as kids, they realize what they've never let go of is not just the town's spring, but also the unspoken feelings from that year. When the excavator approaches the old pagoda tree, Su Wan finally understands: renovation is never about erasing the past, but letting the orioles' song across a thousand miles reflect the red of the old days once more.
