Imperial Guard commander Lu Zheng travels to 2024 chasing a traitor, only to find his descendants hunted by killers. Facing guns and surveillance—what he calls "magic items"—Lu draws his embroidered knife: "I survived the East Factory’s assassinations; this is nothing." But when he rescues Su Xiao, a feisty heiress with the "time jade" (key to his return), he bickers with her: "Your ancient tricks are obsolete!" "Miss Su, I’ve defied the emperor—your sass is trivial." It’s only when Su Xiao takes a knife for him that Lu realizes: instead of going back to the Ming, "seizing the day" means protecting the girl who calls him "old-fashioned" but risks her life for him.
