Office worker Cao Cheng suddenly inherits his grandfather's run-down zoo and is bound to the "Beast Tamer Sect System"—which insists he's the last heir of a lost sect, needing to "cultivate immortality" by raising animals. But the zoo's animals are all absurd: a parrot that yells "Your package is late, idiot!" insists on helping couriers deliver orders, a flock of ravens hangs out at the police station as "unofficial detectives," and even the groundhogs can predict supermarket leaks. He thought it was just a funny daily life, but gradually discovers these "unruly" animals are actually "spirit pets" left by the Beast Tamer Sect, and someone is secretly searching for them. Cao Cheng has to use the animals' weird abilities to solve neighborhood troubles (like finding an aunt's lost cat or helping police with cases), deal with "spirit cultivators" who come to make trouble, and save the dying zoo—turns out "cultivating immortality" is actually building his own "beast-taming world" in the city with these "sharp-tongued but kind-hearted" creatures.
