Lin Chuan, a top modern Chinese medicine practitioner, accidentally travels back in time to 1978 and becomes the "wife-killing poor boy" of Kaoshan Tun. Upon waking up, he witnesses his fiancée Su Xiaomei being forced into marriage by a village tyrant to pay his debts. With his past-life medical skills, he cures Su's father's old injury and saves the heat-stroked production team leader, instantly becoming famous. However, the tyrant, unwilling to lose his "cash cow," frames him for "deceiving people with superstition" and even colludes with commune cadres to ransack his home. While using medicine to defuse crises and collect the tyrant's crimes, Lin Chuan also helps Su Xiaomei open her heart—turns out she's secretly loved him all along but dared not express it due to his previous "cowardice." When the truth comes out, the tyrant is brought to justice. Lin Chuan becomes the "living immortal" of the surrounding villages, wins Su's true love, and together they use medicine to build their hometown, starting their era reversal journey.
