Lin Dashan is a ferryman by the river, making a living with a five-yuan ferry fee. He is kind-hearted and often helps the elderly or villagers in urgent situations cross the river for free. He was ordered to suspend the ferry due to being reported for illegal charges. Without his ferry, villagers had to take a long detour, vegetables rotted in fields during autumn harvest, an elderly woman delayed medical treatment, and children almost missed school. Villagers realized this five-yuan fee was a guarantee for their convenience. The village branch secretary led the whole village to ask him to resume. The reporter turned out to be a rogue wanting to seize the ferry. Finally the truth was revealed, and Lin's ferry sailed on the river again.
