Lin Xiao, the last Taoist master of Longhu Mountain, descends the mountain to find his childhood fiancée Su Wanqing as instructed by his master. However, the Su family publicly breaks the engagement, claiming he's a "rural Taoist unworthy of their noble daughter." Humiliated, he's about to return to his sect when he stumbles upon Su Wanqing, who's possessed by an evil spirit and on the brink of death. Lin saves her without hesitation, and his Taoist powers shock everyone—including Su Wanqing, who begins to respect him. As supernatural events escalate in the city, Lin uncovers a massive evil cultivator organization. While using his skills to resolve crises and unravel his mysterious past, he and Su Wanqing grow closer through "disdain-to-admiration" moments. Eventually, he rises as the city's "hidden Taoist master," reclaiming his dignity and winning true love.
